Beliefs and Practices

ALC is is a faith community grounded in the love of Christ, sent out as disciples to serve in love and generosity.

  • We hold to the three ecumenical creeds: The Apostle's Creed, the Nicene Creed and the Athanasian Creed. We believe in the Holy Trinity of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We believe that Jesus Christ is God's only Son and he is both fully God and fully human.

  • We believe that Jesus has come to seek and save the lost. People matter to Jesus and they matter to us. As Jesus' disciples we are called to love and serve all people. (Matthew 28:18-20); (Romans 1:16); (Luke 14:15-24); (John 20:21) (John 13:34)

  • We come together to worship as a community through hearing the word of God, singing, prayer and fellowship. Worship is a transformation experience where we are both comforted and challenged, where we both offer our praise and are prepared for service in God's world.  (Psalm 146-150); (Acts 2:1-42)

  • Our Christian faith is a living, active way of life. We are constantly growing and learning in order to both deepen our relationship with God and to be strengthened for our service in our community and world. (1 Corinthians 9:19-27); (Philippians 3:13-14)

  • We do this Christian faith and life better together. We walk with one another, seeking the other's good and uplifting their strengths. We seek to resolve conflict and live together in peace. We are held together by the grace and love of God and seek to offer that same grace and love to one another. ( Ephesians 4:12-14); (Romans 13:8); (Matthew 18:15-17); (1 Thessalonians 5:11); (1 Corinthians 12:25-27)
